persistent p1000: caused by c1165?
ive had code p1000 on my ecu causing a check engine light for about 6 months and enough miles that iy should have cleared after an o2 sensor change. the only other active code is c1165 which i believe to be the speed sensor ring that has rotted away and fallen off. dsc doesnt work, im not concerned about it, but is this what is causing p1000 to remain in the ecu? clearing the code only seems to last until the car tries to use the sensor on that side i think, as sometimes my speedometer wont work for a minute or two.
trying to get the car through nj inspection, just the engine light and the handbrake.
thanks.

P1000 is not an error - it is a status code
P1000 - system tests not completed since last code clear
P1111 - system tests complete
one or the other will always be present, neither cause a CEL.
Your C1165 code is causing the CEL. It is also preventing your drive cycle from completing so your P1000 stays.
Here are clips of sections of the workshop manual.

liquid, it is sounding like you have a second sensor that is starting to go, which is why the speedo is not working. Because you have the locked in C1165, that is going to keep the check engine light on. So, you will need to fix the C1165 issue (new reluctance ring) before the CEL will go out.

this answers my question. i just wasn't sure as cxxxx is technically a chassis code and not an "engine" code, and there are separate warning lights for dsc and abs. i rechecked the codes, and you are correct Thermo, its listing c1155 for the other side now. ig uess ill have to break out the wallet for both sides now. from what ive read in the past, replacing the whole assembly is the easiest route to get the rings replaced, which is... ..."what it is".
thank you for your advice about the caliper rebuild as well Thermo.
