Default PIC Small amount of oil on garage floor...

This morning as I pulled out of the garage I noticed a small puddle of oil. It was not a round spot but instead long as if wind from traveling caused the oil torun towards the back of the car. After inspecting the car underneath everything seemed dry - engine oil level was fine. As I arrived at work I took a look after the car was parked for 20 minutes and no oil leak.

The area on the garage floor that corresponds with where theleak came fromwould bethe front drivers side half of the car. Is there anything there that could possible leak oil?

Many moons ago I had a nieghbor in Maryland whom we are still friends with. I spoke with his wife if I could go into thier garage and
drop some oil under his car ( he had epoxyed the floor so no damage). His wife loved the idea.
This went on for 2 months and driving him absolutly crazy. Check your nieghbors.

No I didnt - I will check it in the morning. Does it matter if the car is hot or cold when the level is checked?

Well I was under the car last night and it seems the leak or spill was confined to that area. The power steering fluid was fine. It was at the 2nd indent on the dip stick. Engine oil is at a decent level. This is a really strange thing.

have you ever seen trading places - the quart of blood technique - maybe i did the quart of oil technique?

It doesnt appear to be leaking anymore this morning. The frame seems to be dry so I dont see any run off?

lol...oil doesn't normally appear, then disappear...you have a leak or you don't....I recommend you hose off the air, and re-check in a week or so...

Check the levels again and is fine - what else would leak a black colored fluid?

I had a Benz once and it had a fluid of some sort in the Motor mounts..don't know if this is the case here..maybe RacerX or someone can shed some thoughts on it.. Or it could be a leaking strut/shock.

No, the mounts are solid, not oil filled, struts can leak, but not behind engine. Did you have a recent oil change? Maybe spilled some oil during oil change.

Like I said, hose off and recheck....
Check your brake fluid
Power steering fluid
And oil.

If it's not leaking maybe something weird happened. I wouldn't sweat it then.

The car is still dry - all fluid levels are fine again - checked them last night after sitting all weekend.

The only thing I can think of, is, I just changed my headligh lens out and the car was jacked on and placed on jack stands while I was under removing the bumber cover. Maybe there was some oil sitting somewhere? But the oil appeared the following day... I'll keep an eye on it.

I think the TC has an overflow port /hole on top somehwere..When you had it jack up to one side you may have caused some lube to spill out of the TC case...I don't know this for sure...I seem to remember Bo or someone mentioning that before about the overflow hole....

Anyways, I'm out of ideas..

You may want to make sure the oil filter is dry or even pull it off and check the o-ring.

Try checking the oil pan as well. When my gasket went bad on mine you really couldn't tell where the oil was coming from, just that it was leaking oil from somewhere. It's quite common for the gasket to leak.

YOU THINK ITS FUNNY, BUT YOUR CORRECT. THAT BUSHING IS A HYDRO MOUNT TYPE BUSHING LIKE MOTOR MOUNTS AND SEVERAL OTHER SUSPENSION BUSHINGS, WHENEVER YOU SEE THAT KINDOF PURPLISH FLUID IT BAD AND MUST BE REPLACED. JAGUAR SUPPLIES ONLY COMPLETE CONTROL ARM NOT SEP BUSHINGS ALTHOUGH YOU COULD CK WITH KEN TO SEE IF AVAIL AFTERMARKET. ABOUT 1 HOUR LABOR TIME TO CHANGE AT A SHOP

How difficult of a job is as I would like to do it myself? Will the car need an alignment afterwards? Will I need any special tools?

I did use a hydrolic jack to lift the car and then sat it on jack stands. I had the whole front of the car in the air. I wonder if I broke this joint or was it something that was just old. The oil leaked out a few days later and was very dark in color.
