Default Pin hole in top of coolant reservoir

I have a 2004 X-Type with a very small pinhole on the top of the coolant reservoir. This tank also has a copper line going through it. Is this tank pressurized when the coolant gets hot? Could I replace just the top of this tank or run a screw with a rubber washer into the pinhole? What is the use of the copper tube?

Thanks for any help.

Default coolant tank

Yes it is pressurized, and I would advise not to put a screw in in the hole, it is a weak point. Try to find out what caused it before any repair is done. You can buy a new one one line for under $100.00 and they are easy to install. In the mean time let it cool, unscrew the cap and put it on loose(couple turns) so there is no pressure. This should buy you time to get a new one, BUT ASAP as the system needs the pressure to raise the boiling point of the coolant especially in a warm climate you are in.
LET IT COOL TO AMBIENT TEMPERATURE BEFORE UNSCREWING CAP.OR HAVE 911 ON SPEED DIAL.

Kiknazz, for the moment, you can get yourself some "JB Weld" and seal up the hole for the moment. That should not affect the integrity of the tank (if anything, it should strengthen it some as you can put a quarter size glob on the tank with the hole in the center). But, this has to be done with the tank cold as to not push the JB Weld away from the hole from any pressure.
