Default The plug to my TPS fell apart

02 X-Type 3.0. My TPS plug crumbled into pieces on me today and I'm getting idle rpm's around 1500 as well as "Engine Systems Fault" "Gearbox Fault" messages plus P0123 and P0222 codes. My question is can I buy this plug by itself and splice it on? Surely I don't have to buy a new wiring harness.

Thanks,
Pat

Pat, about the only way that you are going to get that plug (to my knowledge) is to go to the junkyard and cut one off of another vehicle and then splice it in. Most manufacturers don't stock just the plugs. You have to buy the whole wiring assembly associated with that plug. Unfortunately, that will probably mean the whole engine wiring harness. Not going to be cheap or easy to fix that way. I would say to try and see what Jaguar says, but don't be surprised when they tell you to buy the whole harness. I wish the answer was better, but I have been looking for many years for a place that sells just the plugs and I haven't found one yet.

If only the plastic crumbled on you, you can probably get the plug from a junkyard car, pull the pins out of that one (noting which colored wires go where) and then take your current wires (with the pins on the end and insert them into this plastic housing. That would keep the integrity of the wiring while giving you the plug housing back. if you need help getting the pins out, let me know. Once you know the trick, getting the pins out is easy.

Thanks Chris, I think I'm going to try to just use female connecters and plug them on the individual tabs. Can anyone out there tell me if the black or yellow wire goes on top, those are the two I don't know. Thanks
