Default Transmission Kick

Hi everybody,

I recently took a drive from Connecticut to Washington, D. C. and noticed that, when accelerating hard on the highway, the gear shift was very rough and hard, almost as if I had been bumped by another car from the rear. I have about 83k miles on my 2003 x-type, and I'm wondering if transmission problems are common for the model at this mileage. Thoughts?

Thanks!
-Dave

Most ECTs have a brake band adjustment which adjusts the strenth between shifts. Sounds like you have an issue with this, a pressure issue or are in the market for a new tranny. Get it checked out ASAP by a good honest transmission shop!

There isn't one, the tranny is "sealed for life". Do a search and you should get the proper changing proceedure and the fluid to use.
