Default Power gain ideas for the 3.0 X-Type (I'm crazy)

So I've had my Jag for probably two months now, and I'm making crazy future plans but certainly wanna start out small. Custom exhaust is gonna happen for sure and headers down the road, but parts at all for the X-Type are few and far between.

Companies make cams and such performance parts for the S-Type, which I'm told had the same 3.0 V6? Need to know if anyone has an idea if this is something worth looking into or I should drop it now, or if anyone knows where I can shop performance specifically for the X-Type.

!(And yes, I do know the engine is mounted differently in the two cars and all the other drivetrain garbage)!

One of the biggest problems you are going to hit if you start trying to upgrade performance is putting too much stress on the Transfer case which could end quite badly.

Indeed, I too think that there is not much reserve designed into the transfer case. It's probably the transfer case, which is limiting your ideas.
But Thermo did already have 14 years ago ideas of how that could potentially be mended:

nick, you have 2 things going against you with what you have planned. I am not saying that it can't be done. The question is whether you have enough money to do what you are after. Things are not going to be cheap as most of it is going to be custom work that is a lot of trial and error to find the weak points. Like others have said, the motor is easy to make a power monster. The drivetrain, not so much. Trussing up the transfer case to improve the case strength and then to have the case rebuilt with better components is going to be your hard spot.

A simple turbo setup running a custom ECU is going to take the motor and make it a 500 hp monster. The 3.0L motors are known for being very reliable and capable units. BUt, before you start slapping a turbo on the motor, plan in money to rebuild the motor. YOu take a motor with 150K miles and then slap a turbo on it (especially if you plan on 400+ hp), that motor is going to grenade shortly after a few high power applications. The bearings have worn in and you start applying more power, they are going to re-wear in and that is going to get you into an amount of wear that is not good.

I am sure my old post goes into more detail. Keep in mind that you can also possibly use parts from off of a ford 3.0L motor. Not sure what does and doesnot transfer, but that is going to be part of the misadventures you are going to have to go through. Granted, you may almost find it more economical if you are insistent on making a high power x-type, to take the components from say a Subaru WRX and then change the motor mounts and whatnot to make that motor/transfer case work.

Do you know of any tranfercase swaps I could do? I'd hate to lose the 3.0L if I didn't have to, big growly V6 I love putting the pedal down and listening to it. Also certainly not looking for huge power, 300 is my main goal right now but 400 would be awesome. I don't see a lot of modified x-types in the states so maybe I'm trying to be a little unique lol.

The easy short answer is no.
