Default Power Steering Additive

So took my x-type into the dealer to have them listen to the "whisping" sound when turning the wheel. $80 later that's apparently what it needed. We'll see ... had the service bulletin you guys were talking about for it. Too bad my extended warranty didn't cover it.

Maybe my car will be washed when it gets delivered to me.

So without the additive, if i try to heat up the power steering fluid by itself and perform the wheel maneuvering, does anyone think it might just solve the problem?

No, you will need the additive.
The power steering fluid heats up anyway when the steering wheel is turned during normal driving but the additive is needed to lubricate the internal seals/bushes.
The fluid additive is only £3 or £4!
