As you have a Sovereign, presumably you have memory seats/mirrors?

If so, then there is no separate fuse to each mirror. They both share F9, 10A in the glovebox fuse panel.

So each mirror has one shared power feed, one ground wire and one shared signal wire that comes from the driver's seat module.

All the mirror adjustment and powerfold commands come down the single wire from the driver's door module and that wire divides to signal each mirror. The signals are decoded by modules inside the two mirror pods.

You might have a bad ground at the bottom of the driver's side A post or a wiring fault to the mirror. Otherwise it may need a new mirror as the internal modules are not available separately.

Thanks Astro,
Yes, memory seats all OK. You say the Fuse is the same for both mirrors, so no quick fix then!! It stopped working after someone had forced the mirror pod closed when I was parked-up outside a friends. Ive prised the cover off and no loose wires apparent, given it a liberal spray of WD40, no joy.
Sounds like it may be the modules then like you say.

How do i get the mrror pod off, will i have to take the door card off to get at it?

Thanks

Dave

Yes, door card and also the interior trim around the window. Then just one nut and the electrical connector.

You'll be frustrated to know that the mirror is designed to allow it to be forced back. It should then be loose on its mounting but should re-locate when the powerfold button is next used.

I'd do some more wiring checks before committing to a replacement mirror. They're v expensive if new and rare as the proverbial secondhand. Check that 12v is present at the mirror - Green/Black wire feeding the mirror Red wire - and that there is no excessive resistance in the Black Ground wire.

If you do buy used, be careful it really is powerfold as both powerfold and non-powerfold mirrors are three wire for memory seat X Types. Sellers rarely understand!
