Default Powerfold question for electrical experts

I was sitting in my x type waiting for the wife while she was in a shop. Some plonker parked very close to my door and I could see that the mirrors on the two cars would make it difficult to get past so I pushed the button to fold mine. Then it occurred to me, the powerfold appears to work by a push once signal to fold/unfold them. The door locking button also locks all the other doors by a single push and single pull to open them.
Would it be possible to connect a wire from the output of the drivers door lock button and connect it to the powerfold button right next to it to get powerfold with door locking pulse to the other doors, instead of fitting relays and connecting to various cables under the dash as I have read in the powerfold mod stickies.
Obviously you couldn't have autolock as the mirrors would fold as you drove off, but I have disabled that function already.
Any views from the experts. Or was it a bad idea.

Ah, if only life were that easy!! The trouble is that the locking signal is a 12v pulse while the fold/unfold signal is a switch to ground. That's why the relay is used to convert the 12v pulse to a connection to ground.
