Premium alpine speakers again
I know this topic has been touched many times on this site as well as others yet im still somewhat confused. I did lots of researcher, read the article on retrofitting amp and focal speakers, i know one member here uses 4 ohm mid speakers bbbut i need some more info.
My reason for this topic is that my passenger front mid speaker is blown and i dont know whether i should search scrap yards to find matching speaker or call crutchfield and order 2 pairs of brand new speakers (front and rear).
Even though i really like how originals sound, i wouldnt mind getting some more out of the system by getting 4 brand new ones. Now, after doing some research looks like front and rear mid alpines i have are low impedence speakers between 1 and 2 ohms (it would be great if someone here could confirm this). After searching for awhile i noticed its really hard to find a good 2 ohm match for stock speakers.
Now some might ask why you want to go with 2ohms if you can easily instal 6.5s 4ohm speakers all around the car (if i remeber right, guy called "cambo" did that). Well i would be perfectly fine with that if tech specialist from crutchfield didnt tell me that by going from 1-2ohms to 4, is gonna affect loudness of the speakers (actually they will run at a quarter of their power). Thats something i want to avoid as i like to listen to loud music with good bass from time to time. So, can someone preferable who did the swap already tell me what changes he noticed, does he think it sounds better? and maybe what speakers he used. Im really trying to get this down to a science heh because i value great sounding good music.
As you can see guys, i want to get the most out of the stock radio and amp. I thought about kickers 40cs654 which are 4ohm @ 100rms. I just installed them on my brothers civic with aftermarket radio only and i was quite surprised how much bass comes out of them. Component speakers? Well, i would only get those if i had new amplifiers but im definitely not planning on stripping car, running new wires and fabricating connectors.
So what do you guys think? Should i look for jaguar alpine speaker or go with aftermarket ones front and rear?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My experience with my XK8 and blown speakers was changing from 4ohm to anything else required changing the source. I opted to get my existing rebuilt for about the same cost as changing them I sent them to Orange County Speaker in Orange California. They reconed mine and they are like new. did one a year ago and the other last month. The convertibles are really hard on speakers.
