Y not just upgrade your front speakers/amp and fade the sound forward. Keep your stock rear speakers. It does sound really nice. Think of attending a live concert. The sound is coming from in front of you versus around you.

But its up to you what kind of sound you like, live concert or surround sound.

If the stock speakers were good enough in the back why have Jag upgraded them from Philips in the basic system to Alpine in the Premium system?
Surely when using the DSP functions from the premium system good rear speakers would also be needed??

Buck,

If you are not as concerned with the sound in the back seat, you will be better offputting a full range (2-way / 3-way) in the rear doors anyway. As it is, the rear door speaker is the closest one to the driver. Putting the tweeter even closer to you will mess up your front soundstage no matter how you aim it. I think Focal makes a 2-way you could match w / front components.

No doubt they will sound good, I listened to the K2's, but @ 4 times the cost, I'm happy w / what I chose.

Let us know how it sounds when you're done.

Which tweeters do you mean, front or back?
I think its worth saving £200 just to have them in the front and not the back if rear tweetersdont make much difference to people sitting in the front???

I'm all for saving money as well and I say don't do it buck!
Besides anything you put in the car is going to be better than the alpine system anyways.

You guys have Phillips speakers? My regular 4-speaker base system is a 120-Watt Alpine System.

Buck,

Sorry I wasn't clear. Yep, I was talking about the separate tweeters inthe back that you do not want. If you mount tweeters in the rear door handle like Jag does, the rear driver side tweeter will now be the closest one tothe driver…You I assume. You then end up with 2 driver side tweeters closer to you than the nearest passenger side one, making it harder to balance. The 2-way Polk's I put in the back have a tweeter mounted with a swivel I aimed toward the rear passengers. It sounds fine back there but I was being selfish and wanted the best sound up front...where I am

The front separates you do want to use. The Jag location is OK but there was a guy somewhere that outlined a project locating the tweeters on the black piece up front. That would be a better location but I didn't want to cut more holes.I ended up usingthe Jag location for the front tweeters.

Master Deep,

At least the 04's like mine with the base 120W system used a Phillips speaker. The only words I could think of when I pulled them out were horrible or crappy.

Hay Buck, right before I clicked send, I remembered you guys have the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car Just kidding, but I had to go back and change the lefts and rights I wrote in the first paragraph to Passenger side and Driver side.

I have an 03 and it came with Alpine Speakers in the US as the base system. There was an upgraded higher wattage Alpine Premium system too.

Nothing like a new sound system! Going to work will be even more enjoyable, eh? Im jealous of the 10" sub...I don't have any room for one that large.[sm=smiley19.gif]

I recognize all but the Mumba chick in your list. Can I recommend some Disturbed and Breaking Benjamin?

The car audio specialist is half way through the upgrade but has a small?? problem.
There is an error on the speedo which says
PECU
....
V
This is an error code I have never seen before.
This is the problem if I understand what they are saying:-
The sound system works fine but this message is on all the timeshortly after the trip mileage is 1st displayed.
The local Jag dealer was phoned and they said they dont know.
When the CD-Amp (fibre optic??) lead is unplugged (this lead passed the test checks when it was made) and the old lead fitted the error disappears.
Anyone know what this code means?

Default Wild guess

I think the D2B net is a loop. Make sure the you are not missing a connection on the fibre optic side.

Your right it is a loopyet both the CD changer and amp which are both in the loop work and the speakers all work??
Surely if the loop wasnt connnected correctly then either the CD or amp wouldnt work????
Or am I missing something???

Could be they are not corrected in the right order. Again, I am going from (a bad) memory. I did some minimal research on this system and seem to remember the items, radio, cd changer, amp had to be connected in a certain order in the loop. Each piece could be looking for an ACK from the last piece. Incorrect ACK could throw anerror. I'm digging here...but just trying to help you out.

Do a search over on roadfly, there was a guy, maybe D2BGUY or D2BEXPERT that gave someinfo on the system. There is some info in JTIS also in the D2B section.

OK thanks. The fibre optic lead had Amp , CDC and something else (Cabin??) marked on a label on each connector so Im guessing a specialistwould be able to connectthese to the right places?
Its puzzling but hopefully its something simple like that.

You might have them try swapping the CDC and AMP connections. Nobodysperfect and the 2 could be labeled backwards on your harness.
