Hi Madasahatter

First thing I would say if you are able is to clear the codes then re scan a couple of times, these cars do tend to throw a few lose readings every so often and simply resetting can make it go away... heres a couple of threads with similar problems.

On the lights have you firstly checked the fuses? Does the air con and demister actually work but doesn't light the switch up or is it totally dead?

Hi, and thanks for your reply ,, no the air con and demister do not work , I checked all the fuses in the engine bay all seem good. Prior to checking the OBD2 codes I had the car regassed in case it was just a loss of gas, but obviously not Just blows hot air ( I liken it to the wife )
I am going to try with the reader again now , and do what you suggest, will post the results.

Don't waste time chasing the P1000 DTC as this means all emissions monitors are set. Use the Jaguar DTC definitions, which may be different than the generic ones.

Prior to any diagnostic work being performed, check the battery voltage across the terminals with a voltmeter. The battery should have a minimum of 12.6 volts with the ignition in the OFF position. If not, charge the battery for six hours at 2 to 5 amps and retest. If the voltmeter still indicates less than 12.6 volts, the battery is suspect and must be replaced for all vehicle systems to function normally.

Is there power to the rear demister grid whilst the switch is in the on position?

Did you inspect the connection at the IAT and the wiring loom for damage?

Wow ,,, Did as you suggested , ran the diagnostics , cleared the codes 3 times, all that comes back now are the two codes P1000 and P1699 , manufacturers codes. But the amber engine light has gone away !!! Brilliant.
I understand that I will now have to have a "drive cycle " to see if the two codes go away also.
