Air Bag Light Flasing on Dashboard
Hi, does anyone know why my air bag light randomly starts flashing on my dashboard ?
It seems to not be constant...but it is regular
It flashes once pauses then 9 times so code is 1-9
I have had my hand under the seat and checked connections.....
Your assistance is appreciated as my mot now due

Vern: thanks very much for posting that code list - because it helped me solve the problem. The code 23 is for the passenger side airbag wiring. This car has had only one fault, a minor one, in all the years of ownership: the passenger side airbag light above the glovebox would come on occasionally - with no one and no weight in the seat. It could always be extinguished by simply pressing the connector under the seat (the airbag light that is the concern in this thread for me is the light in the instrument panel in front of the driver - this has never been on before - which is why I thought it might be something more serious like the clockspring).
Well, your help pointed me to the same connector under the passenger seat. I simply played a bit with the connector and wires, started the engine - fully expecting the driver's side airbag light to still be on - but mirabile dictu! no light!
The permanent solution is to probably disconnect the connector and use some contact spray on it and reconnect but I now know that there is no serious issue and I know how to solve it if the light comes on again. Many thanks!
These are wonderful cars; we have three of them - two manuals and an automatic (Sportwagon) - we have found them to be absolutely reliable and a joy to own and drive.
