Default The dreaded balancer rattle.

So for about the last month or so I've been getting a rattle on start up for about a minute but only in the afternoon when it's hot and I have the a/c on.

So I finally got the chance to look and I was suspecting it was the clutch for the air pump but with a light I could see the pulley wobble with a snap of the throttle.

So it's time for a new balancer. After a little search I found the guy in Oregon but he is on vacation for the month of September and I just looked today. But he is the best deal by far so im just going to have to wait.

I've got to say I was shocked at the price of theses things. It's kind of like the radiator when it went about 2 years ago. It's funny, a lot of the stuff I've purchase has been fairly reasonable but there are a few parts that are really expensive. The price you pay for a 20 year old luxury car.

Sorry to see a fellow without his Jag,I guess heat may have something to do with rubber failure.

I am ripping all the peripherals from Redd, and it's balancer seems ok,PM me if you are interested,
Cheers,Jim

An update and a Plug.

After the car mad a NEW noise I knew I couldn't put off doing the balancer any longer so I pulled it off and sent it to Dale @ Dale Manufacturing - new home page H.B.

I had it in the mail last Monday, Tracking showed he received it on Wed. I received a phone call from his wife on Friday for payment and picked it up today Tuesday. It probably would have gotten here Monday but it was a holiday and the PO was closed.

Round trip and repair was less than $150. It looks great, still smells like fresh paint and they (Dale and his Wife) were super nice to deal with. Hopefully I will have it back on tomorrow or Thursday and be back in the running.
