Good News:

Have been dealing with the mysterious moaning when temps hover around 0 Celsius. Booked an appointment for the local dealer, indicating the problem. Used my digital camera in video mode and taped the noise shortly after departing from home. Downloaded the video to a memory stick, which I gave to the dealer. Service adviser said he would pass it on to the technician.

End result: dealer replaced the prop shaft, and did a computer upgrade, whilst providing me with a 'loaner'. Jaguar paid for it. My warranty ends Oct. 2009. This is the second trip to the dealer since purchasing the X-Type from a lease company in August 2008. The car came from California. The dealer has been phenomenal.

First trip was early January, the "3 year" service, although the car had just over 14,000 km on the odometer. Again, Jaguar paid for it.
