Hi there just bought car and noticed today the water pipes are firm but can sqeeze em....The water is ok oil is ok.but header tank does smell a bit gassey???heaters work fine no over heating at all car runs mint.My mate use to work for Jag and says the hoses do get firm it is normal but how do you explain the smell???? does not use water either? any suggestions?

 

Could it be coming from your PCV valve?

 

will that cause the smell???? so do I just replace it or clean it....

 

PCV valve is cheap, just replace the PCV valve.

 

can i get one from ford or do i get it from a local parts place???? in the UK

 

probably going to need to get it online. Check ebay
