Default Rattling Noise in Front Passenger Area

There's a rattling noise that has been driving me bonkers lately. This happens when I go over bumpy/rough road surfaces. It sounds like a small plastic piece shaking about. I think it's coming from inside the door panel near the window button or the door handle, but it could also be coming from the right-most air vent register area.

Anybody have similar issue?

Thanks!

My driver door speaker makes a little rattle noise. Damn heavy metal music destroys everything! Make sure your windshield vents are pushed all the way in, they are known to rattle a bit.

You know? I had heard that (windshield defroster vents) from another person. Provided that's the case, do you know if I just push them down into the dash? I'd hate to break something there by doing it wrong.

Thanks!

Mine had a rattle too. Turned out to be the screws that hold the lower side trim to the bottom of the seat had worked loose.

Thanks stshots!

That gives me one other place to check when I get home.

Bummer!

It's not the windshield defroster vent nor the seat trim. I'm guessing either the door lock or window button.

The only sound I hear on occasion from the passenger side is the front seat belt rattling between the door and seat. Sounds dumb but it's worth mentioning.

Suggestion:

Slap things with your palm around the suspected point of origin. By being able to select what you slap, you can usually narrow it down. You may need to vary the force of the slap to get it to trigger. With enough experience you can almost always find the source.

Thanks, pilot. Unfortunately, this also happens when the wife is strapped in on the passenger seat.

Have you had her drive it while you sit on the passenger side to look for the noise? If it happens a lot, get yourself a stethoscope and listen while she drives.

Does the cars RPM or speed have any bearing on it? Mine has one spot that if I put it under a little load, like 5th gear going up hill, I get a very slight vibration through the drivers seat that feels EXACTLY like my cell phone vibrating.

I'd check the door panel and speaker, under the dash, bang on the ventilation ducts, and inside the glove box and console. Use a non-marking rubber mallet for banging things because your hand most likely can't generate the kind of force a road bump would. But a smaller concentrated tap with a mallet might get results.
