Question Rear bumper interchangeability

Hi,

I need to replace the rear bumper on my X type (2004) and I read somewhere that they changed this for the facelifted model. Are the old and new bumpers interchangeable?

Also, is the rear bumper from the estate interchangeable with the saloon?

Many thanks if you can help

this suggests that yes it does, the fact that a geniune oem ebay listing includes all years, but you should find further evidence as this is not 100% proof

A review of part numbers show the following:

- Part numbers changed for the front bumper between 2003 and 2004 for the Sedan (no Estate)
- 2004 and 2005 front bumper part numbers the same for Sedan & Estate
- 2006 and 2007 front bumper part numbers the same for Sedan & Estate

- 2005 thru 2007 rear bumper part numbers differ for Sedans & Estates (differs in design)
- 2003 thru 2007 rear bumper the same for all Sedans/Saloons (variations exist for whether you have headlamp washers, park aids, or none)
- 2005 thru 2007 rear bumper the same for all Estates

Based on the above, I think you would be limited in your search to only finding a REAR bumper from any other Sedan/Saloon
An Estate rear bumper would not work on a Sedan/Saloon.
Replacing the front bumper is a different story...appears any 2004 and later are the same and will work on a Sedan/Saloon/Estate (but not 2002-03)

and the 2006 sport model had different bumper covers front and rear
imo the best looking bumpers
also these were the same as the limited x type SE around 2004
