Default Rear differential bearing

Has anyone had to replace the rear diff bearing & race? What where the warning signs that it gave? Noise or vibration? Thanks Chris

Chris, when you say rear diff bearing and race, I am assuming you are taking about where the driveshaft comes into the rear diff? Right? The signs of this failing normally is the fact that you will see fluid leaking out of that joint. In some cases, you can see movement there too (but this would be in extreme cases). if you are talking about the output shaft bearings/races, then you are mainly looking at leakage there and some movement.

I ask about the input bearing as you are asking about the carrier bearing and if you lived with a bad carrier bearing for awhile, it is possible that the movement in the driveshaft took out the rear diff bearing too.

Yes, the input shaft or driveshaft input is the bearing I refer to. I have no leaks or movement @ the input or output shafts. I have found a new carrier bearing $45. I'd like to change it has anyone had any luck doing this? Looks straight forward. Thanks for the help,Chris
