Default Which rear shock absorbers are best? (3.0 Estate)

Hi folks,

I am the happy owner of a 2004 3.0 AWD Estate that is now in need of new shock absorbers (rear). I am not sure which type to choose?

- Do I have the "sporty chassis" or the normal? (I believe my car is a sport version but I have no clue how to verify this)

- There seem to be a big difference in price, from the cheapest (Sachs) to the most expensive (Bilstein at 3 times the price(!).

Do I need the more expensive versions or can I go for the cheap offer?

Thanks a lot!

The car most likely came with Bilstein shocks on it. What you replace with is up to you though.

One way to tell if your car is a sport is to look at the "blades" on the front and rear sides of the bumper. If they are Chrome, you most likely do not have a sport model. If they are painted the body color, you most likely have a sport model. Granted, this isn't 100%, but it's a start.

I just replaced my rear shocks with Bilstein B6 (HD), which will work for both the comfort suspension and the sport suspension. They were $92 a piece.

Have a look at your front shocks, they will say if they are 'comfort' or 'sport' (see picture) and replace the rears with the same type.

I got some sport ones for £57 each from here http://www.totalparts.co.uk/land-rov...-bearmach.html

They also sell the same ones in a Jag box for £98 each http://www.totalparts.co.uk/jaguar/c...-bearmach.html

They will post to Portugal.

They also do the comfort ones under the part numbers C2S46575 for the Originals or C2S46575X for the same without the Jag box.

Are you sure the items you linked to are actually SPORT shocks? Looking up that part number on other sites, it indicates they are comfort. Same for the additional part numbers you didn't link.

It's hard to tell by just the color scheme of the shock, as both the comfort and sport have the black and blue color.

My apologies, Yes C2S46575 is the Estate comfort and C2S34680 is the Estate sport, my first links were for the saloon comfort.
