Default Remote key sensor distance

Hi, my mates key can unlock his vehicle from really far and he has not replaced his battery. I have put in a brand new duracell battery and the distance of how far I can open it is far but not as much as him... Why is that?

Yes but our fobs are shielded!
Is he holding the fob against his head when pressing a button?
Try it

What do you mean shielded..? He has the same key and the same car just a petrol version. And not next to his head

There was a problem with some earlier remotes and they were recalled if I remember to have a shield inserted in the fob

lol i hold the key to my head sometimes and I swear it increases the keys range.

But my normal range sucks. I have to be within 10 feet or less. Sometimes even 5 feet. Rarely it works at 20 ft.
