Bradjr,
I acquired one recently from AutoThisWorldOnline (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jagua...0530QQtcZphoto ) that is supposed to be a FACTORY OEM add-on. No HIDDEN key required. Currently I am too busy with my engine re-build to bother with the "ADD-ON" and it would do me no good at this point. I ordered one for my S also and will make an attempt to install next month when the rebuild project slows down.

As for now I do not have an answer concerning the remote start unit I purchased but I was looking for a remote start that did not require a "hidden key".

I will update this thread when I get one of them installed.

Jaguar strongly recommends you do not attempt to install a remote starting application.

I'd be curious to know why Jaguar (or others) recommend against a remote start?
I know that here in the Mountains, it's a lifesaver for 5 months of the year, when you can get the heat going in the car before having to get in it!

its usually because the dealer scares people into thinking it will screw the car up. Simple question i will ask everyone here............ Does turning your key screw up the car??

Think about this for a second. The key is a mechanical switch, that turns on the appropriate wires on the back of the ignition switch. If a remote start does nothing more than turn on the appropriate wires, where is that a problem???

HOWEVER............finding a good installer is more of a pain in the **** if you ask me......you dont know how many times in the last 15 or more years i have had to undo someone else install. Some have been down right ugly too...some even a fire hazard.... i was trained by the best people around back in the late eighties/early ninties and to this day i have trained many many under me, and funny thing is, these guys ALL GET IT, sad for some others that didnt have good trainers.

ANYWAY, if any of you are in the Philly area, let me know, i have no issue with taking care of your installs.

here is the thing, It can do more harm then good. I live in Cleveland, Ohio. It gets very cold here. I just figure that I can bear the 3-4 minutes the car is cold rather then risk the chance of a greater issue later on.

anytime you mess with the electrics of a Jaguar you are setting your self up for some heart break. My mechanic told me not to install one and I go of what he says.

Side note- My "mechanic" is a legend. People from all over the country send their cars (Jaguar, Ferrari, Lambo, Aston Martin) to him for work. If you are ever in Ohio and need the best let me know. I can point you in the right direction. He always has an E-Type in the shop that they are restoring. PS, he also builds engines and race cars if anyone is looking.

I looked at this site and was wondering which one to purchase. I really want my wife to have this. Sorry to dredge up an old subject.
