Remote unlocks but not lock doors

Hi everyone,
First post as new to Jaguar x-type ownership.
Owned my 2005 2.2d sport estate/station-wagon only 2 weeks, no real problems until..

On both my remote key fobs the 'lock' and 'lock/headlight' buttons don't work but the unlock and tailgate unlock buttons works fine.

I've changed the battery's for new ones and also tried the reprogramming sequence. I even cleaned the insides of the remotes with contact cleaner spray. No difference. Same outcome.

I can still lock and arm the alarm using the key blade in the door handle.

I have searched the forum for answers but what could this be?

When you say they do not work when locking, when you push the button to lock them does it sound like they are trying to lock, but the latch doesn't move or when you push the button to lock them you hear no sound at all?

I know on mine the passenger rear door sticks sometimes and if I manually move the locking latch inside the door it loosens it up and works for a while. Will have to open up mthe door in the spring and look at it.

Hi Alfadude, When I press either of the red buttons to 'lock' the doors there is no sound or any indication that the vehicle is receiving any signal from the remote.
So its either the remotes not sending a signal or the vehicle is not receiving.
Or could be its receiving but not doing anything about it?

But its weird both remotes not working at the same time, though to be truthful I only used one key and the spare was put away until now.
Both batteries have been changed and neither have been dropped in my possession.
