Default Replaced Parking Sensors

Hi all... after loosing my patience trying to sort out the factory fitted parking sensor set up, I opted to remove it and install an after market set. The installation went well but I've hit a bit of a snag, when I engage reverse gear the reversing sensors come on but they give off a warning code.

The kit comes with the optional canbus wire but I'm a bit stumped as to whether the car has the canbus system (2004 X Type saloon) or where the canbus wire would be attached?

Anyone any ideas?

Neil, Your car has the CAN bus setup. If you look at the plug for the electronics box relating to the factory parking aid, if you look at PIN 12, you will see a white wire there. That is the CAN bus wire.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback. I've two plugs in the spare tyre well, both have a white wire but neither is at the pin 12 position. I've tried connecting the canbus wire in both but I'm still getting the same fault alarm coming from the sensors (a cisbo parking sensor kit).

Not sure if it's a dodgy sensor or if I'm not finding the correct wire

Neil, look in the driver's door jam and tell me what month/year your car was made. 2004 cars have 2 potential wiring harnesses. With this info, I can pinpoint exactly what harness you have and give you more detailed information.

Hi Chris,

Miss Daisy (my daughter named her) was manufactured in May of 2004. I'm wondering if you have a download link, or a copy of the electrical manual & schematics as they pertain to my car.

Thanks,
-M

Check out: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...nks-faq-34883/ . There you will find a few links to where diagrams are listed. If you want the whole JTIS handbook, look up in the sticky section and there is a link to download it and how to install it into the newer operating systems.
