Replaced plugs, coil but still getting P0305 and P1313 codes
Hi,
New to the site and will be posting an intro soon.
Got a Jag cheap (approx 1/3rd forecourt price). Unfortunately has a problem that keeps throwing it into make-it-home mode. I have noticed some quirks on this - e.g. once the tank is below 1/4 it is less likely (and often doesn't) stick me in MIH mode although the MIL lamp is lit.
Was getting codes P0305, P1313 and P1316, yesterday I took apart the engine and replaced all 6 plugs, the ignition coil on Cyl 5 and the inlet manifold gaskets. Didn't have the opportunity to take it out for a drive until today. Reset the system of all codes then started out. Initially, just got the flashing engine logo on occasion, then nothing for a good 10 minutes. Fuel level just touching red so I went and topped up a bit (about 1/2 tank). After restarting the engine, MIL light on, flashing on occasion with flashing seeming to be way worse in higher gears. Checked codes upon return home and still getting 0305 and 1313 although it hasn't finished all the tests yet.
So, I am hoping someone can help point me in the right direction of what I should be looking at next. The car seems to be mostly running fine, I have a couple of pictures of the plugs showing the one from cylinder 5 being blacker than the others. I also have a sound file where you can hear a chug-chug noise that happens regularly but not constantly when idling.
The attached ZIP has the WAV file as well as 2 JPG pics of the plugs (you can see how there is one that is black compared to the others just brown).
Thanks,
S.

plugs
these plugs are a typical rich mixture and oil ring wear. Your oxy sensor is telling the injectors to dump in fuel that can't be burned either from bad compression, weak spark, bad rings,OR a vacuum leak.Could be the car had a vacuum leak and they never took care of it for a long time and ran rich dumping fuel that it couldn't burn carboning up everthing including the PVC system. The noise sounds like someone pulling a plunger out of a tube, like valves opening on a dead cyl. Does it smoke?
