Default Replacing rear brake caliper seals

I managed to damage one of the seals on rear brake caliper so i'm going to replace all of them on both calipers. Can anyone point out to me where exactly does each seal belong:

I know where nr. 1 ,2, 3 and 4 goes, but i don't know about the rest of them:

Don't want overstate the obvious, but just match up where you take off from..

#7,#8,#9 I'm not sure about they look like the guide pin inner seals and the big #5, #6

are guide pin outer rubbers like #3,#4 AND #11 is the bleeder nipple cover.

simo, having rebuilt my calipers, I think I can shed some light on this. Please keep in mind that you seem to have gotten a generic caliper rebuild kit that covers many styles of calipers. So, half of that kit you are not going to use. So, parts 3/4/7/8/9/10 you can toss out right off the bat. They are not used on your caliper.

As for piece #1, that goes around the piston that is in the center of your caliper. You may find yours being white. NOt that big of an issue. Piece #2 is the outer cover. The outside ring gets pressed into the caliper body and the center part gets placed on the narrow part of the piston (just behind the pad where the brake pad touches the piston).

Pieces 5 and 6 go on the edges of the caliper body where the bolts hold the caliper to the car. Make sure to coat the bolts with a quality high temp grease to ensure the calipers do not freeze up over time. Ensure you remove as much of the old grease as possible too before adding new.

Piece 11 is simply a dust cover for the bleed nipple. So, where you bleed the fluid out for bleeding the brakes, this goes over that to be 1 more barrier to prevent getting dirt inside the caliper.

Thermo isn't there a seal for the parking break mechanism? I have only
replaced the outer piston seal so I don't know what the innards look like.

Pete.

jagger, you are correct. I forgot about that seal. That would be piece #8. That is what seals the rotating shaft of the e-brake to the caliper body. The rubber disk between the e-brake lever and the caliper body that you first run into is not included in any rebuild kit I have seen.

#7 looks like the tapered washer that goes around the e-brake shaft, under the e-brake lever

Hi Thermo... I received a caliper repair kit for the rear calipers on an x - type - Bosch no 0204104274 which contains: Nos 2,5,6,10,11 from the above photo plus two bolts, one is double ended. But no o ring as in number 1 in the photo. How can I get the O ring if I want to replace it - or should it have been in the kit?

Any help you can offer on this is very much appreciated.

anthou, I would think that if you got a repair kit, the O-ring (#1 above) should have been in the kit along with a smaller o-ring (#8 in the picture above). Those are really the 2 components that you want other than maybe the dust shield (#2 above). The large O-ring is what seals the piston and prevents fluid from leaking out onto the rotor. The small O-ring is what prevents the fluid from leaking out around the e-brake lever and is where most of the problems revolve with these calipers in my experience.

What I think you really want is "Centric kit 143.20008". That will have all the parts you need and is what I normally get when I am repairing the calipers.
