Ride Improvement
Just wanted to share my experience. Over the past winter I noticed the ride on my X has gone considerably worse. It rode hard over the broken road(Michigan roads) and there were trailing micro vibrations after the bumps.
I bit the bullet and got new rear shocks, front struts, front strut bearing and front anti roll bar bushings. This is with 88000 miles on odometer.
Big difference. I love the way it rides now and especially the lack of harshness and the mico vibrations.
Some lessons learned:
* PB Blast every fasterner the day or 2 before actual work including the hub nut
* both rear subframe bolts need to be taken out to drop it 1.5 inches. Leave the fronts untouched.
* those bolts will likely loosen welded nut on the inside. Access to the backside is through driver/pass foot well - lift the carpet, lift the anti-noise foam and cut open the slotted sheetmetal
* buy shorter M10x1.5 bolt to replace the front bolt on the front anti roll bar bushing. It's possible to get the original bolt out but almost impossible to get the front one back in. Rear bolts can be reused
* loosen the hub nut before jacking up the car. 24inch breaker bar and 32mm socket needed for this. Study the thread before loosening. For mine both were conventional direction. I'd thought left side would be reverse thread but it wasn't.
* get new strut bearings the ball bearings were not round when they were out
* rear shock replacement was straight forward in comparison. Besure to PB Blast the lower bolt thoroughly and let it soak over night. Order one replacement bolt just in case. I had to cut one of mine to get the shock out.

jn, I got all the parts from JPLV here: http://www.gaudinjaguarparts.com/par...?siteid=214626
They have the best price and service in my experience. The shocks were $83 each.
