Default Ride significantly improved

For the last few years I've experienced a loud earth shattering thunk that rattled the entire car when going over bumps in the road. It was so annoying the X-Type stayed mostly in the garage.

So I went on a buying spree and replaced the following:

rear (front) lower control arms - $130
rear sway bar bushings - $30
rear shocks - $193
front strut bearings - $95
front strut mounts - $77
front struts - $200
front control arms - $178

I also purchased new tires (old ones had inside wear to the steel belts) with a road force balance before all of this, but that didn't help anything.

All the rear parts I installed myself, but the front end parts were installed by an independent Jaguar specialist.

In case anyone cares, the rear lower control arms were totally worn out and useless. Also the strut mounts were extremely compressed on 1 side each.

After the new parts and alignment, the thunks are now very mild thuds, and the steering wheel vibrations are 99% gone. It feels like a new car! I now drive it every day instead of every month.

I have 107k+ miles. Next project is to replace the spark plugs.

Thank you for your valuable input. i've recently got new tire, alignment, propshaft and it has improved my ride significantly. I got Michelin Pilot Plus A/S Sport Tires rated Y but should have followed other forum member's advice and got the Michelin MXV4 Grand Touring. My tires are fine but because they're "sport", they are a little less comfy than the touring ones.

Kalacho2006, I just found them in my garage. One of them I had to cut through the bearing as the bolt got stuck in it. Let me know if these would work for you.

CatFan, where did you purchase your parts from? Also, can you tell me about what the specialist charged to install the front components?

Thanks!

I got them from Ebay. The seller is "Deutsche Parts USA".
Be careful however. The description is wrong or misleading. It reads "Jaguar X-Type REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ARMS LINK LINKS+ Bushing LEFT RIGHT SET 2 " It's definitely not the rear upper. But the picture is correct. Currently it's on sale for $115.69 for the pair.

I got the front components installed for $450 not including an alignment which I got somewhere else.

CatFan, thanks for the info! Did you buy all of your parts on eBay, or did you get the front parts from the specialist?

I got them all over the place:
rear (front) lower control arms - ebay - Deutsche Parts USA
rear sway bar bushings - ebay - jagsjagsjags (welsh)
rear shocks - autopartswarehouse.com
front strut bearings - gaudinjaguarparts.com
front strut mounts - gaudinjaguarparts.com
front struts - eshocks.com
front control arms - ebay - Deutsche Parts USA

At the time, these sellers had the best prices after shipping.

Hi CatFan. Can I check if you had any problems with your Deutsche Parts suspension arms/ bushes that you had installed? I ordered a set of OEM arms on e-bay and when they arrived, I realised that they were from Deutsche Parts. Then when I started to read up about parts from Deutsche Parts, I started to get a bit concerned.
