Default Rims: difference in ride quality 18 vs 19

Is there a difference in ride quality between a 18" rim with a 225/40 tire and a 19" rim with a 225/35 tire? I'm about to order wheels, and am still up in the air about this topic.

stick to the 18. 19 will more than likely rub in some spots.

I think it will depend on the width and offset of the rim, ive heard that some 19's dont rub

04XType is right 19x7.5 and below do not rub. I had 215/35/19 on 19x8 wheels and they didnt rub but the ride quality sucked, not to mention being more prone to pothole damage. I upgraded to some 225/35/19 and the ride quality is a 100% and it looks more aggressive as well. (Check out my cardomain in my sig)

I've been in an X-Type w/ 18's and the ride feels close to stock, and with my X w/ the 19's you could definitley feel more bumps in the road. I guess it's just one of the sacrifices I make for the look that I want.

Hope this helps.

hey gotti, whats your wheel offset? thats the most important detail to prevent rubbing, i.e. mine are 38mm, and they rub. im guessing yours are like 42+mm.

I have 19x8's wrapped in 225/35/19 tires on my x-type sport with lowered H&R springs and Bilstein sport struts, and have absolutely no rubbing. it's an absolute perfect fit. my offset is +42.

Hey gotti

I looked at your car domain and saw you had put LEDs in for driving lights. I went to the v-led site but can't figure out which bulb fits. Do you have the actual part number?
