Rough Idle on Startup - AC Cycle?
Hey All -
My new to me X-Type has what I would call a lumpy idle when cold and with the AC turned on.
If I turn the AC off, the lumpy idle goes away instantly.
I can hear the compressor cycling off and on and for the most part, it continues to cycle off and on through the entire use of the AC. The fans on the front work fine and come on with the AC on.
Under what conditions does the vehicle turn off and on the AC clutch?
I know it has the proper amount of refrigerant, it was just recovered and refilled by weight...Initially I suspected it was low on freon but thats not the case.
The tech said it could be a bad temperature sensor - but I don't have a code for that, and the dash temp display seems to work fine. No misfires and no check engine lights.
Engine isn't running lean and no vacuum leaks (its been smoke tested)
Any ideas?

Is check engine light on? If so try to get that here.
i guess worse case is you can take the ac compressor and take it to some local repair shop that deals with such components and repair it, that be the cheapest way really. Even tho youll take to recharge the ac after.
