Default Sadly Gear Box Fault and a few Codes

Sadly I got the gear box fault a few weeks ago and it returned again today. I pulled the codes and was able to get a P0748,P0778. Any ideas from the forum members???

Other wise the car has been great.

It is an 03 X type with 24000 miles on it.

Any help would be appreciated...

THANX

Just reading from my AllData...is the trans shifting gears? Both codes are for different solenoids BUT they can both have a similar trip cause - TCM ground circuit, open circuit Hope that helps. If it was the solenoids themselves I would suspect you would have drivability problems, like being stuck in fourth gear.

Not a drivability problem with the car at all. It just dropped to the gearbox fault a bit of shudder and then in third gear it went. I am beginning to think that something got wet and it is causing a few issues...

Otherwise the car is doing well.

When I had the TCM issues I got those codes, as well as almost every other code imaginable, but it started with those.

I took it to the dealer, they tested the transmission after clearing the codes and couldn't replicate it. But there was a trace of corrosion on the internals of the TCM as well as at the connection. They cleaned it and told me it would likely return which it did about 3 weeks later. They did the same cleaning and ended up replacing the TCM although likely it was still fine, cleared the codes and a week later in a heavy downpour it returned. One of the guys at the dealer said he though water (a very very small amount) was coming in from the base of the windshield and making it's way to the TCM. I replaced the windshield and have been problem free ever since. The TCM hates water which is why it is mounted inside the car.
