Default Sensitive with bumps

I just purchased a 2005 X-Type with 80k miles. My brother has a 1999 Audi A4 and it rides really smooth. I assumed that this Jaguar, being a luxury vehicle would ride smooth as well. Not sure if this is normal, but when I'm driving and the pavement isn't perfect, the front half of the car is kind of bumpy. It feels as if I'm driving with two flat tires but not as drastic obviously. Can someone explain?

Mak, what are you running for pressures in your tires? Are you running 17" rims or something larger?

If you are running a larger diameter tire than 17's, you can run into a slightly harsher ride. If you find that you are running the tire pressures above 40 psi, this can also result in a harsher ride.

It may be possible that you have a bound up shock, but I think you would notice this with the car cornering or something of the like. BUt, if in doubt, you can do a bounce test of the car and see if the corner of the car moves by simply pushing down on the corner of the car by placing your weight on the car and then quickly letting it go. You should see the car only rise a maximum of 3 times. If it bounces more than that, then your shocks/struts need replacing. If the corner doesn't bounce, then you have something locked up in the suspension.
