2004 x-type 3.0 60,000 miles

The car was in for inspection, passed, but was told that the belt was "cracked." So, I looked at it and saw that there were rather fine cracks on the toothed side of the belt. The question is, what is the life span of this belt and are these fine cracks are a signal for replacement.

according to jaguar's service table for this car, the serpentine belt should be changed at 70'000 miles. in my experience as a mechanic the fact that the belt is cracked doesn't mean that the belt is necessarily bad.

So you are going to have to change it eventually even though they are a bunch of idiots :/ If you want to buy the belt from me here is a link... Best of luck!!!
