Shifter click fix

Hey guys, my wife as a 2003 Jaguar X Type 2.5. Since we bought the car (2nd hand), when you apply the brake, the shifter gives a little click. It annoys the heck out of me! Is there any quick fix for this?

Yes its the gear change lock solenoid situated under the gear lever gaiter...common problem.Easy to fix

I used to remove the shifter trim then un screw the knob. Then remove the 4 screws that hold down the black shifter guide/ illumination module. Turn the key on and you can see the solenoid hitting the plastic. Get a piece of velcro ( the soft side ) and peel off the adhesive tape and tape it into the striking area. And reassemble
