Side mirrors
Hello guys
New Jag member.
It has been 1month since i bought my car. Everything i think is going well, despite some little scratches
The problem is that i dont know how to close my side mirrors. I saw here that there should be a black button, but my car doesnt have that. Anyone can show me how ? Cuz i think there is a way to close them.
Thnx in advance.

I stopped for gas tonight and while filling up I took up courage to try the passenger mirror. It finally did fold but not so much as to be flat or really gain much safety for it being moved in. So I guess they do fold in but it's not light to the touch like some vehicles I've had.

Hi Thermo, a neighbour of mine has power fold mirrors on his 2003 X-type, but i don't have power folding mirrors on my 2003 X-type. Is there a way to retrofit these. Some people say it's been wired in, so all that needs doing is to buy the folding mirrors and the door control switch.
Any comments will be appreciated

Mrqng78, can you add this to your car, I am pretty sure you can. But, this is not a simple "replace the mirrors and all is good". Odds are, the wiring is there already. You can confirm this by removing say your passenger (left hand) side mirror and look for a blue wire at pin 15 and a white wire at pin 16 going to the mirror. If these are there, then the rest of the wiring harness for the mirrors will be there. If no wires, then you are going to need a cabin wiring harness and will end up spending a fair amount of time with your car as replacing the wiring harness is not going to be a fun job.
Once you have verified that you have a good wiring harness, you are going to need a few more items. The obvious thing is the 2 new mirrors. You will also need to get the "fold flat" module. The final thing is you will also need to replace the switch console in the driver's door to give you the ability to fold the mirrors in. All of these items should be plug and play once you get access to where they go. I am not 100% sure where the fold flat module goes. So, you may need to figure out where that goes before getting too far into this. I am thinking it is under the center console, but don't quote me on that.
The final thing that you will need to make sure of is that fuse F75 in the passenger compartment is installed. Should be as this is the fuse that powers the A/C-heat control panel.

The powerfold module looks very similar to a standard relay, but a little taller and brown in colour. It plugs directly into the passenger compartment fuse box at position R1, the position immediately above the fuses.
The powerfold option became available in 2004 when the wiring harness was significantly upgraded. In cars with the newer style wiring harness, the extra wiring for powerfold is in place. Standard mirrors have five wires, powerfold have seven wires. (Even more for post facelift cars with turn indicator repeaters in the mirror!)
In cars with memory seats/mirrors a totally different wiring system to the mirrors is used, needing only three wires for both powerfold and non powerfold versions, making the mirrors difficult to identify if buying from a car breaker!

I had three X-types, but I never saw any power fold mirror so far, it's must be an option and very rare. I think the manual fold mirror they make just so when you drive too close to a poll or other car mirror hit it the mirror will fold to prevent mirror being broke or damage to the door, it's not for you to close them manual.
