Slight Leak/Knock on Bottom Engine
Hi All,
I have been advised by Jag that theres a leak/knock on my bottom engine at the sump area, hence the bottom gasket needs to be changed and the oil drained and replaced. Has anyone experienced this and how much it will cost to fix (labour & material wise). Thanks.

Oil pan gasket is the least of your concerns..The knock sound would worry me....Crankshaft bearings or something associated with it would be something to worry about. $$$..Maybe a JAG-tech here can give you more to go on.

Thanks DPK. I am thinking along the lines of replacing the gasket and doing an oil change as the previous owner didn't do any service on it and then see how it goes. The knock as the mechanic described it is very faint, unless you mute everything around, it can't be heard. The engine still runs super smooth, doesn't loose oil and water, still wonder why the leak.
Might be okay..a good fresh batch of oil might be all you need...If the pan gasket had been leaking, maybe oil got too low at one time and this started the knocking..who knows..see how it goes as you said..good luck
