Sound quit on 05 Xtype w/Prem Sound System
Hey guys,
I have a 2005 Jag X-type with the premium sound system installed (Apline speakers, touchscreen HU). On Saturday, all of the speakers in my car suddenly quit working. Even on max volume, there isn't even a "buzzing" sound. (Obviously I have checked that the mute isn't on!) I have tried running the radio AM/FM, and a CD but no luck.
I did read online where the speakers have been known to short out and that some have had luck with lightly bumping the door panels, but that didnt work for me. An A/V accquaintence suggested that the speakers could go into protection mode but that the whole system would have to be replaced at around $1000-$1500!
Is this true? Any ideas as to what could be the problem? I do have Computer Tech experience but no AV experience at all.

My bf has taken out the amp (a site said that there may be a fuse on the side of the amp but there wasn't). We didn't see a listing for an amp fuse on the diagram of the fuse box as found in the owners manual. Any ideas as to which fuse we should check?
Also, what is the best way to test an amp to tell if it is good?
Thanks for your help!!

In the 2005 North American Owners Handbbok
http://www.ownerinfo.jaguar.com/extf...1937/index.htm
the fuse is listed as Fuse 20 (a 30A fuse)in the passenger compartment fusebox
Best way to check amp is to try swapping it with a known good one
