Default Speakers out

My car has the high-end audio system with the NAV unit and recently I started to think that the sound was not evenly proportioned. This morning I adjusted the balance left/right and fade back forward and confirmed that only the speakers on the passenger-side seem to be working (when balanced left or faded back I could hear the radio but with only a very low volume).

Anybody got any ideas what might be up with my radio?

I have a similar problem where it seems the front speakers don't work. They seem to work but not well at all so I'm guessing they are blown. I've read somewhere here that the X Type doors are a pain in the rump to pull apart and put back together again, so I was thinking I'll just go to Best Buy and have new ones installed and be done with it.

Might be the head unit puking too. The only way to really tell is to cross wire the speakers to see. But that means having to cut and splice wires behind the deck or pulling both front door panels. I think D/L has a better idea, it's a better than 50/50 chance its the stock speakers if you can hear something.
