Speed limiter
I just got my car back after about 3 weeks from the bodyshop, and was driving on the freeway with my friend in his RSX, and i was driving at 121 (cos of the limiter) and my friend was rite behind me. I thing is, i still have a load of RPM's and power, but just cant use it. I knew the RSX could go past the 121 and i cudn't. So does anyone know a way to take of the limiter (a cheap way/no chip). by cheap i mean in the range of a about $200-$400. Appreciate any help.
I'm not 100% certain on this one, but I do remember reading in one review that there was no speed limiter as in BMWs or Benzes, and that the speed was aerodynamically limited. It could be wrong, of course.
Here in UK there are no limiters. I wonder if you bought a 2nd hand engine management ECU from over here it would sort it??
I bought an imported MR2 Turbo once which was limited to 180Kmh (speedo read in Kmh) and I nearly went through the windscreen when I floored it after much tweaking and the limiter cut in.I sorted this by fitting a cog which converted the speedo by 5/8 so made the speedo read in Mph and the limiter was therefore in theory raised to 180 Mph
Not much use to you if your speedo is set for Mph already though.

It looks as though there are 2 options:-
[ul][*]Fit a UK version of the engine management ECU if its suitable for the US marketor[*]See ifa dealer can take the limiter out if its possible using their computers.[/ul]
Other than that I dont know.

Thanks for the help guys, im goin to take it to the dealer next week to see if they can remove the limiter. I checked the tire presure when i got it back cos it had been sitting for a while, and i hadto add a little more air. I knnow that i shouldnt have been driving it that fast the day i got it back, but i was just so happy to have it back. I had a Chevy cobalt for 3 weeks, it showed me how much i really miss my car when i dont have it.
Yeah, I tweaked mine up to where the limiter is disabled. I also asked if anybody in the UK would buy me an ECU ( I would pay for shipping and everything of course) anyway, with my home version of electronic hacking, I am able to diisable that part....but it sets a code.......but it's nice blowing past other cars that have it. lol
