Well lets face it all chinky stuff is rubbish, i refurbish alloy wheels for a living and the chinky ones are nasty cheap junk! Everything that comes out of there is not made to last but we are all guilty of buying it because the quality parts are just to expensive. Catch 22.

I bet more parts come from China than we are aware of. A lot of the time it's the same part with the only difference between the two (low price and high price) is the final packaging & destination, and with different brand name 'stamping' applied at end of the assembly line. One company might request the outer colour/casing material/etc. to differ from the others in an attempt to conceal this.

Out of curiousity in this particular situation, where is the 'good' air conditioning compressors made? Let's hope a part that reads Made in Germany isn't just referring to the outer case with the 'guts' being made cheaply elsewhere.

ALL "chinky" stuff is rubbish"? Geez, I can't believe there are still people out there that believe that. It is 2013 not 1970. There are probably a ton of parts on your X that were originally made in China. Being made in China has nothing to do with it. You can buy crap from anywhere if all you care about is what the lowest price is and not look at quality. The saying you get what you pay for is oftentimes true, but not always. Take it from someone that has been in that part of the world many times, there are a lot of ethical, modern and quality suppliers there in just about any industry. And, yes, there are also ones you would never want to deal with. Ask questions and do your due diligence and not just buy something off the internet blindly.

The only reason that your post has not been deleted completely is that it provides context for AlfaDude's response. Otherwise, it would be toast.

It is completely incorrect to blame a country for supplying a market. They only sell what people buy.

Again ... thread closed.

20+ years ago, Chinese manufactured parts may have suffered through poor quality.

In my dealings with many manufacturers from Germany / Italy and other countries I know for sure that some actually buy from these sources and repackage or resend as their own.

Further In recent years I have bought from and seen many Chinese castings that 20 years ago were porous, poor quality in terms of finish and material content & durability.
Working closely with Chinese partners, the key being to have good quality control at the outset ensures a good product at a much more affordable price.
