Stiff Steering Lock
Couple of things. On my 02 X-Type, when the car has stood in hot weather, the steering lock can be a tad difficult to take off, anyone experienced this.
Juts recently, my fathers 51 X-Type has deveoped a very stiff igntion lock, almost impossible to turn the key without some 'jiggling' of steering wheel and key, with more pressure than one would normally like to deploy. I've given the lock internals a quick squirt with WD40 and it is now as it should be, smooth and easy to turn. Has anyone else experienced this>

No, can't say I have. Are your wheel turned left or right when doing this? Sometimes the pressure of the turned wheels can put pressure against the pin causing the stiffness you describe...
