Today I had very strange experience in my x type. I had replaced one of my front wheel bearings with a generic one, so I constantly get the tcs fault message, but sometimes it won't appear until I step on the brake. That's what happened today, only it didn't go off right away and it felt like the abs was attempting to pulse the brakes. I kept going, thinking little of it as this has happened before, but I felt a noticeable hesitation, and noticed that despite the fact the engine was revving at 4k and the car was moving quickly, the speedometer was only reading about 15 miles per hour. Shortly thereafter, the brake warning light in the cluster illuminated and I promptly pulled over, shut the car off, and restarted the engine. The brake warning went away, the speedometer began functioning correctly, but the jerking/hesitation remains. Shifting is now accompanied by a dull, quiet clunking sound almost identical to a mis-timed up shift.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

 

The clunk happens when I step on the gas too, it's almost as if there is a delay before the transmission hooks up, if that makes any sense. I noticed a post from 2010 from syndrome with a similar problem, but it doesn't seemed to be resolved. Motor mounts maybe, but there's not really any vibration or shaking that I can notice.
