Subwoofer - RCA connections
I'm adding two JL 10W0 subwoofers to my X-type. I'm keeping the stock system for now until I get a custom double-din faceplate to mount my screen. Anyways, I am installing a line convertor to give me RCA outputs for my PPI Amp. The closest speakers to the back I can find are in the rear doors. I can tie in there to the speaker line, but I know that the premium sound package was an option on these cars.Is there an unused connector in the trunk area I can tie into?

The premium sound system uses a completely different cabin harness where the speakers are routed to the back (for the amp or built in parcel shelf amp, depending on year) rather then the front (for the head unit unless you have a 2001-2004 car which goes to both), so the short answer is no.
If you want to get a feed from both the driver and passenger side, front or back, then it will be easiest to take it from the CA230 connector at the front of the car. It is a blue connector 16 waylocated in the LH lower A pillar behind the plastic trim piece that comes up from under the door. You'll need to take the door base piece off first, then there are two little clips just above and below the hood release level so get your fingers behind and give it a firm tug. The connector is one of 8 in a black plastic mount just behind that. For the cables you want it depends on year:
2001-2004
LHS rear white/blue (+)and yellow blue (-)
RHS rear white/green (+) and yellow/red (-)
2004 onwards
LHS rear white/green (+) and yellow/red (-)
RHS read white/blue (+) and yellow/blue (-)
Yep - they reversed the colours. Thankfully the pins are still the same though so if you check the numbers on the back of the connectors they are pins 7/8 and9/10 respectively.

before i got my nav, i had the line out converter installed rite under the stock unit. The guys that installed it split in to a wire under there and connected it. This way i cud adjust the power for the subs by adjusting the fade on the left rear speaker and there is space for the converter under there. Then all you do is run the wires to the back and ure set.
