Default Sudden loss of all power.

Good day fellow members,

'05 X-type 2.0 D sport.

Over the last week or so my car completely cuts out when making a right turn, usually around a mini island or a 90° right turn (2nd and 3rd gear).
If the car is at a complete stop and I make the turn then its fine.

This is happening on my way home from work, the same way I have been drivig for a year or so.

To get going again, its just a case of shutting the ignition off for a few seconds then starting back up.

Any ideas?

Stebe, the only thing that I can think of is your one fuel pump is starting to go and what is happening is when you make the higher speed turn, the fuel pump is becoming uncovered and it is then sucking air instead of diesel fuel. You can prove this by simply having a fuel tank of fuel as this should prevent it from becoming uncovered. If it still does it, then you are most likely looking at a wire bundle that is starting to show some age and by making a turn at speed, it is causing the wire bundle to move slightly and break its electrical connection.

Thanks Thermo.
I am actually low on diesel at the moment so I could try filling up (obviously) and see if that eliminates the problem.
In fact.......no time like the present.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like the fuel pump theory.
Looks like I will be getting a mechanic to take a look, my pads and discs/rotors need changing anyway.
Just hope to god I don't have to take it to Jaguar.

Thanks again.
