Question Thermo, transmission follow-up

Soz to open post but couldn't for the life of me figure how to add a gallery picture to a private message. Kept asking for a URL, lol.

Remember our discussion of 5 speed with overdrive feel? Accepted your explanation, then tonight pulled out my paperwork for something else (Carfax info) & found the sticker from the car. Look at the transmission info.

As an aside, does anyone know the difference between a 4 door high and a 4 door base (vin coding 51 & 52)?

Dell, I believe the difference is all interior trim stuff. There were a few "limited production" trims that the X-Type got for limited markets. If you have one of those, then your VIN would have the 52 designation. Most X-Types are going to have the 51 designation.

Thx, mine's 51. Odd that a "higher trim" would be labeled 4 door base over 4 door high?? Meh.....

Dell, looking at the shop manual, it doesn't go into a lot of info as to what the plate numbers actually entail. But, you have number 51 thru 56:

51 - 4 door, 5 seat saloon high series
52 - 4 door, 5 seat saloon entry series
53 - 4 door, 5 seat saloon sport series
54 - 5 door, 5 seat wagon high series
55 - 5 door, 5 seat wagon entry series
56 - 5 door, 5 seat wagon sport series

Maybe the membership can start posting pics of the interior to see if we can spot differences between the plate numbers. Atleast the 51-53 and 54-56 differences are pretty obvious in that one is the basic sedan, the other is the estate (hatch back) set-up. The bigger question is the differences between the high, entry, and sport.

One plate down (51), now to see if we can find members with a 52 or 53 plate.

Sorta, that's the 51 sport

So mine says 51 high =
17" wheels, moonroof, nav (touchscreen), rain sensing wipers, cdc (trunk), 8 way power seats, heated seats, 10 speaker audio, adjustable & telescoping wheel leather and birds eye maple, message center on dash and under media (1 cd there) with time, outside temp, inside temp setting on that one, NO DSC, homelink 3 button, champagne colored everything: leather seats, dash, carpets, roof, & birds eye maple wood trim.

My 06 wagon was built July 05. It is a "54". Has 17" wheels, DCS, no navigation, non sport version.
