Default Throwing parts at a bank 1,2 lean isssue

2006 Jaguar x-type
3.0 L automatic
115k miles
Have had the car 5 years, no service history.

I have done all of mods that usually take care of this issue.
All of this is considered a 100k tune-up where i am located

4 O2 Sensors EGR
fuel filter MAF
air filter runner O-rings
battery cables brake booster
smoke test spray test
brake booster vacuum hose
both brass fittings on intake

IT has gotten better as now i usually just get the 0174 and not the 0171 code as well.
Getting ready to throw parts at it the week.

With no service history, and my daughter getting ready to drive I am going to have her pull the intake, to do upper gaskets and plugs. If there is not something glaringly wrong, i am going to have her pull the injectors clean, bench test and replace both O-rings. Then look at the lower intake gaskets.

Other than the valve cover gaskets, is there anything we should address while in there?

Thanks,

Ron

Hey Ron, not long ago my 06 3L was doing the same thing (both codes) mechanic found it after some searching. There is a tube that runs from the rubber accordion tube (not sure what it is officially called) in front of the throttle body to the rear valve cover. Mine had come loose from the valve cover causing the leak. It’s really hard to see with everything all buttoned up but if you’re going to take the intake off it will be in plan site. I would change the rubber grommet in the valve cover since you’re in there. Hope that helps.

The only thing I would advise is to use OEM Denso O2 sensors as the Xtype is very sensitive to aftermarket ones, even expensive ones and will sometimes still throw the codes up if non Denso replacements are used. Something I found out the hard way.
