Default Timing Belt or Chain?

Hi guys,

I have a 2004 Jaguar X Type Saloon and i'm curious if it is a belt or chain timing belt and should i look into changing it. I know belts need changed regularly but unsure if its a chain.

Thank you in advance guys.

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X-Type forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

Timing chain.

No service requirement to change that item.

Generally. when the engine is opened for other reasons at high mileage, the chain and dampers are changed, coz you are "in there".
