Default Tire Pressure Monitors

I've searched the threads and haven't been able to find a direct answer to these two questions:

1. Will the TPM sensors from the 16" wheels from a 2008 X-Type fit the 17" wheels from a 2004 X-Type?

2. Is there any way to just disable the d*mn TPM system completely?

Thanks.

I'm guessing it could be disabled in the dealer diagnostic stuff.

My dealer says no to disabling the system. They would incur too much liability if they could do it. I have the opposite problem in trying to install '08 sensors on older wheels. Did you have any luck?
