fuel check valve

fuel check valve
Well my check valve went out a few weeks ago, got tired of trying to find an original, although a kid at the local store found it once, an he no longer works there. So I just bought a run of the mill, check valve and I installed it in the line that comes out of the fuel pump, instead of the bottom line of the fuel block thingy. It doesn't hold pressure. Is there some special something about that block that the check valve has togo to the bottom. the main line goes to the top of the block, so I did'nt see any reason it wouldn't work there. Is it a bad check valve or should I just move it to the bottom port?

That junction block thingy is an air bleed and is open/exposed to the fuel return system. Your fuel pressure is bleeding off from there. You have the check valve installed upstream of the air bleed.
Install your check valve *downstream* of the air bleed device.....between the air bleed thingy and the engine.
