ever since I got my car there has been a tizzing / rattle from the drivers door. The dealer has tried to fix this a few times under warranty and has wrapped the wires in foam. But still the noise is there. The car is out of warranty now so am thinking of taking a look myself. Anyone else experienced this noise?

 

whilst driving, but window etc makes no difference. Have not been able to isolate exactly where by putting pressure on door.

As you say taking the panel off is easy enough but as the dealer has tried all the obvious things already there is not much point pulling the panel unless I have an idea as to where to start looking.

Of course the noise may in fact not be the door, but as best as I can work out that seems to be the area.

You'd be surprised at how ignorant the dealer is to small details. Some of the techs are really good, but you'll have to find the right dealer! Always try taking it to different dealer.

 

Rivs if you got paperwork for the fix I'd take it back to them and the paperwork shows that they've worked on it before. At gm they make an account for everything that your car comes in for. Every complaint you make is documented so if you did have a problem and they couldn't fix it show that it happened before the warranty was up...I'd try this at least if the dealer isn't forever away...How long ago did you have it serviced for the problem til now???

 

yeah could take to the dealer, but I know how difficult it is to resolve rattles, and to be honest it is easier to do it myself than have to drop it off at the dealer. Arrange a courtesy car etc..

 

Yeah, but then you'd be paying for it out of your pocket!

 

I'm with bigdreams, plus you'd be taking your door apart instead of them...I'd tell them your going to fix it and I don't want it back until its resolved...don't they loan cars under warranty or not? Alot of guys on here have had rentals...
